Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn goes viral after unique performance at Paris Olympics

Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, also known as B-Girl Raygun, has garnered significant attention online after her distinctive performance at the Paris Olympics. Gunn, who hails from Hornsby in New South Wales, was seen in videos shared online hopping like a kangaroo, touching her toes while lying down, and moving in a unique style on the dance floor. These moves quickly went viral, making Gunn the subject of numerous memes across social media platforms.

Gunn, a former jazz and ballroom dancer, was introduced to breakdancing by her husband, who had been practicing the discipline for a decade. Although she grew up dancing, Gunn only began competing in breakdancing competitions in her mid-twenties. “I wasn’t a sporty kid, I was more of a dance kid,” Gunn shared. “I never thought the Olympics would be on the cards for me. It’s such a privilege and it’s hugely exciting.”

In addition to her breakdancing career, Gunn is an academic, holding a PhD from Macquarie University, where her research focused on the intersection of gender and Sydney’s breaking culture. She is also a lecturer at the university’s Department of Media, Communications, Creative Arts, Language, and Literature.

Despite finishing the group phase at the Olympics with no points, Gunn defended her performance, stating, “I was never going to beat these girls on what they do best, the dynamic and the power moves, so I wanted to move differently, be artistic and creative because how many chances do you get in a lifetime to do that on an international stage?”

Australia’s chef de mission, Anna Meares, also defended Gunn, addressing online critics and emphasizing Gunn’s dedication and resilience in a male-dominated sport. Meares described Gunn as the country’s best female breakdancer and an “absolutely loved member” of the Olympic team.

TikTok star Chris Olsen addresses leaked intimate photos, states he did not consent to their release

Content creator Chris Olsen has publicly addressed the circulation of intimate photos and videos of him that were recently leaked online. The 26-year-old took to social media this weekend to clarify that he did not consent to the release of these materials, which have been widely shared on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter). In a detailed statement posted on Instagram, Olsen explained the circumstances surrounding the photos, revealing that the situation stemmed from an encounter with a photographer when he was 19 years old.

Olsen, who had gained a following through fitness photos on Instagram, recounted that he was approached by photographers for collaborations. While most of these experiences were positive, Olsen described one particular incident where a photographer “crossed the line” of what he was comfortable with. “When we first shot together he immediately had me sign a release for the photos that we were going to take, which he said was standard and he needed me to sign in order for us to start,” Olsen shared. Being inexperienced and just 19 at the time, he complied, not fully understanding the implications.

@chris

Replying to @ara🧿 im sorry for how choppy this story is and im sorry if this is hard to hear and please scroll if its too triggering but i feel like i have to stand up for myself and explain the situation. I’ll continue to take accountability for my actions but i hope you can understand my side

The content creator explained that although he attempted to show his discomfort, he felt unable to refuse the photographer’s demands, leading to the creation of the unconsensual material. The photos were later posted on a paid platform, from which they were subsequently leaked. Olsen also acknowledged making other videos of his own volition during that time but expressed a desire for the circulation of these materials to cease.

Olsen concluded his statement by saying, “I am in the process of forgiving myself and I hope you can try to forgive me too,” while urging fans and followers to stop sharing the images.

Disney unveils exciting ‘Avatar,’ ‘Indiana Jones,’ and ‘Encanto’ themed attractions

CALIFORNIA:

Walt Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro laid out an ambitious growth plan for the company’s theme parks on Saturday at the D23 fan convention, announcing plans for four new cruise ships and details about six new themed lands.

Forthcoming plans include a new Disney villains land at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, a doubling of the size of the Avengers Campus at the Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California, and details about its partnership with Fortnite creator Epic Games.

“This, for us, is an unprecedented era of growth,” D’Amaro said.

The two new attractions at its Marvel-themed Avengers Campus at California Adventure will be Avengers: Infinity Defense and the Stark Flight Lab, the company said.

California Adventure will also add a new ‘Avatar’ experience at the California Adventure, based on the second film in the science fiction franchise, “Avatar: The Way of Water”, it said.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary next year of the Disneyland park in Anaheim, a show based on the life of Walt Disney featuring an audio-animatronic figure of the company’s founder will be opened.

Disney also unveiled two attractions for the new Tropical Americas expansion coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom park in Orlando, Florida. One follows Indiana Jones on an exploration of a Mayan temple. Another is inspired by the Disney animated film “Encanto” and follows the character Antonio on the day he received his magical gift. Tropical Americas is set to open in 2027.

Actor Billy Crystal took the stage to announce an area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios dedicated to the Pixar film, “Monsters, Inc”. The area, known as a land in Disney theme park parlance, will feature a suspended roller coaster designed to simulate zooming through the door vault at the Laugh Factory, just like characters Mike and Sulley in the film.

Pixar’s “Cars” film franchise also comes to the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, in a re-imagined area of Frontierland, with two new attractions planned. One will take guests on an off-road thrill ride into the wilderness beyond the film’s fictional Radiator Springs setting. Construction is scheduled to begin early next year.

The fan favorite announcement, based on the audience reaction, was D’Amaro’s statement Disney will create a new area devoted to Disney’s villains at the Magic Kingdom, with two attractions, dining and shopping.

These announcements reveal how the company will begin $60 billion in capital investments, nearly doubling spending over the next decade to improve attractions at its 12 parks and increase cruise line capacity.

“Everything that we’re going to share with you tonight is in active development,” D’Amaro said. “This means that plans are drawn. This means that dirt is moving. I just want to be clear with all the fans out there. This isn’t blue sky.”

Cruise fleet expands

Disney also said it will add four cruise ships to its growing fleet, capitalizing on an industry that has been enjoying a rebound from the global shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company currently has five cruise ships in operation, and previously announced four others, including one Tokyo-based vessel and another that will set sail from Singapore in 2025. These new vessels will start operating between 2027 and 2031.

D’Amaro was joined onstage by the company’s creative leads to discuss Disney’s collaboration with video-game maker Epic Games. The company invested $1.5 billion in Epic earlier this year, giving Disney an equity stake in the creator of Fortnite and Unreal Engine.

Disney announced new characters and stories are coming to the online game, including Disney villains as well as characters from the Pixar superhero film, “The Incredibles,” and the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” about a lone bounty hunter from the Star Wars universe.

Disney’s parks have become a reliable profit engine, helping cushion the impact of declines in traditional television and losses in its video streaming business, which last quarter turned a profit.

The experiences unit, which includes parks, cruise ships and consumer products, contributed 60% of the company’s operating profit in the most recent quarter – up from 30% just a decade ago.

Twinkle Khanna’s cheeky warning to Akshay Kumar about remarrying has got us in stitches and shivers

Listen to article

Former Bollywood actress and author Twinkle Khanna has playfully warned her husband, Akshay Kumar, about the consequences of remarriage, even before the thought could cross his mind.

According to Indian media, Twinkle Khanna shared an amusing anecdote in her latest blog about her recent vacation with Akshay Kumar. During their trip, the couple engaged in a light-hearted conversation about the possibility of Akshay marrying again.

In her blog, Twinkle revealed that one evening, as they were heading back to their camp, their tour guide introduced them to a pair of birds known as ‘tick-tock.’

The guide explained that these birds are so devoted to each other that if one dies, the other consumes poisonous grass to end its own life.

This story prompted Twinkle to jokingly tell Akshay that if she were to pass away first, he should follow the bird’s example and eat the poisonous grass too. She added, “Because if you remarry after my death and I see you two together, I promise I will haunt both of you!”

Twinkle shared that Akshay, with a nod and a smile, humorously responded, “I’d rather eat the poisonous grass now so I don’t have to listen to this nonsense.”

It is worth noting that Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna tied the knot in 2001 and have two children together.

Katy Perry faces ‘career crisis’ amid disappointing single releases

Katy Perry’s latest musical endeavors have sparked concerns about her career trajectory.

After the underwhelming response to her single “Woman’s World,” the pop star’s second release, “Lifetimes,” has also struggled to make a significant impact. While “Lifetimes” is seen as an improvement over its predecessor, the song has not been well-received beyond Perry’s core fan base.

The setbacks in Perry’s attempted comeback have led to discussions about her current standing in the music industry. Eric Schiffer, a public relations expert and chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, described the situation as a “career crisis.”

According to Schiffer, the lackluster reception of her recent music has made it difficult for Perry to reestablish herself with her millennial audience and connect with Gen Z listeners.

Despite the challenges, Schiffer believes Perry’s career is not beyond saving. He suggests that to successfully navigate this crisis, Perry needs to evolve her sound, attract a younger audience, and address the criticisms head-on.

Schiffer also recommends that Perry consider a sit-down interview to explain her choices, particularly her decision to collaborate again with Dr. Luke, a figure with a controversial past.

Schiffer emphasizes that while Perry’s reputation has taken a hit, the success of her full album could determine the outcome. “It’s achievable if the quality is there,” Schiffer noted, highlighting that the ultimate driver of her comeback will be the strength of her music.

Arvind Kejriwal In Jail, Manish Sisodia To Lead AAP’s Assembly Poll Campaign In Delhi, Haryana

Arvind Kejriwal In Jail, Manish Sisodia To Lead AAP's Assembly Poll Campaign

Manish Sisodia has been the key face behind the rise of the AAP

New Delhi:

With Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal still in jail, his close confidante and former deputy Manish Sisodia has taken charge of the party’s campaign for the assembly polls in the national capital and Haryana.

Mr Sisodia, who has been granted bail by the Supreme Court in corruption and money laundering cases linked to the Delhi liquor policy case, will today hold a meeting of the senior party members.

The 52-year-old walked out of Tihar jail on Friday after spending 17 months behind bars, giving a shot to the AAP in its arm, which is still trying to fight the setback it received after its chief, Mr Kejriwal, was sent to jail in a case related to the alleged liquor policy scam.

The meeting of the AAP leaders is scheduled to be held at 6 pm at Mr Sisodia’s residence.

Assembly elections in Haryana, where the AAP has announced to contest all 90 assembly seats, are due later this year, while polls in 70 constituencies of Delhi are expected to take place in the beginning of 2025.

Manish Sisodia Is Key Face Of AAP

Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister of Delhi, has been the key face behind the rise of the AAP since its inception after the 2011 anti-corruption movement.

The AAP credits Mr Sisodia for “underscoring his pivotal role in shaping the multi-faceted governance landscape (of Delhi)” and “revolutionalising” the education system of Delhi government schools.

Before signing off his cabinet responsibilities, he held 18 crucial portfolios, including education, finance, planning land and building, vigilance services, women and child development, as well as art, culture, and languages, among others.

He, however, resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28, 2023, two days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested him for alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy 2021-22.

Mr Sisodia has won the Delhi assembly elections thrice, securing the Patparganj constituency in East Delhi.

Adani Group On Hindenburg Report

'Recycled Claims Earlier Proven Baseless': Adani Group On Hindenburg Report

The Adani Group has rejected the latest report by US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research as “recycled claims” that were earlier “proven baseless and dismissed by the Supreme Court”. The conglomerate said the allegations were aimed at personal profiteering that disregarded facts and the law.

“For a discredited short-seller under the scanner for several violations of Indian securities laws, Hindenburg’s allegations are no more than red herrings thrown by a desperate entity with total contempt for Indian laws,” the group said in an exchange filing.

The statement was referring to the show-cause notice sent by markets regulator SEBI last month to Hindenburg and its sole beneficial owner Nathan Anderson.

In July, the Securities Exchange Board of India had flagged violations by Hindenburg and Anderson under the SEBI Act, SEBI’s Prevention of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices regulations, and SEBI’s Code of Conduct for Research Analyst regulations.

Full Statement by Adani Group

Hindenburg Report – A Red Herring

The latest allegations by Hindenburg are malicious, mischievous and manipulative selections of publicly available information to arrive at pre-determined conclusions for personal profiteering with wanton disregard for facts and the law. We completely reject these allegations against the Adani Group which are a recycling of discredited claims that have been thoroughly investigated, proven to be baseless and already dismissed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in March 2023.

It is reiterated that our overseas holding structure is fully transparent, with all relevant details disclosed regularly in numerous public documents. Furthermore, Anil Ahuja was a nominee director of 3i investment fund in Adani Power (2007-2008) and, later, a director of Adani Enterprises until 2017.

The Adani Group has absolutely no commercial relationship with the individuals or matters mentioned in this calculated deliberate effort to malign our standing. We remain steadfastly committed to transparency and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

For a discredited short-seller under the scanner for several violations of Indian securities laws, Hindenburg’s allegations are no more than red herrings thrown by a desperate entity with total contempt for Indian laws.

– Spokesperson, Adani Group

The statement came after the chief of markets regulator SEBI denied the report and called it an attempt at “character assassination”.

SEBI chairman Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch, in a statement, called the report an
attempted “character assassination” in response to the SEBI’s July action against the short-seller.

SEBI chief’s full statement:

In the context of allegations made in the Hindenburg Report dated August 10,2024 against us, we would like to state that we strongly deny the baseless allegations and insinuations made in the report. The same are devoid of any truth. Our life and finances are an open book.  All disclosures as required have already been furnished to SEBI over the years. We have no hesitation in disclosing any and all financial documents, including those that relate to the period when we were strictly private citizens, to any and every authority that may seek them. Further, in the interest of complete transparency, we would be issuing a detailed statement in due course.

It is unfortunate that Hindenburg Research against whom SEBI has taken an Enforcement action and issued a show cause notice has chosen to attempt character assassination in response to the same.

Justin Bieber yells at fans, concerned for pregnant wife Hailey’s safety: Get out of here

Justin Bieber reprimanded a group of enthusiastic teens on Thursday at a Los Angeles hotel when they wouldn’t stop bothering him.

A TikTok video filmed in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria in West Hollywood captures the 30-year-old singer questioning the eight teens—who were attending a bar mitzvah, according to TMZ—about what they found so amusing.

“Is this funny to you guys? This is funny to you guys?” he asked the giggling adolescents, who were all filming him.

He then told the persistent teens to “get out of here” as hotel staff guided them back to their event.

An observer told TMZ that Bieber was initially calm and polite when he asked the teens to stop bothering him, but he became frustrated as they continued to crowd him.

He was reportedly worried about his heavily pregnant wife, Hailey Bieber, who was about to arrive at the upscale hotel to meet him for lunch.

Hailey, who is expecting their first child, has not revealed the baby’s gender.

The couple announced their pregnancy in May with a series of photos and a video of them renewing their vows in Hawaii.

During the ceremony, 27-year-old Hailey showcased her baby bump in a form-fitting white lace dress.

Though she has kept details about her pregnancy private, Hailey has frequently flaunted her growing bump in various outfits, including a sparkling butterfly crop top and a flowy Isabel Marant babydoll dress for a recent W magazine shoot.
