“Never Stole A Single Penny…”: Arshad Nadeem’s Father’s Emotional Statement After Olympics Gold

The men’s javelin throw final at Paris Olympics belonged to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem. The star was at his best on the day when Pakistan needed him to perform well. In his second attempt in the final, Arshad threw the javelin to a record distance of 92.97m. The throw not only helped the Pakistani athlete clinch a gold medal eventually but it also saw him set an Olympic record. The throw from Arshad was the best by any athlete in the history of Olympics. The record was previously held by Denmark’s Andreas Thorkildsen, who achieved the mark of 90.57 m at the 2008 Beijing Games.

When Pakistan’s national sports board was deciding who to finance among the seven athletes bound for Paris Olympics, only Arshad and his coach were deemed good enough for funds. Nadeem and his coach Salman Fayyaz Butt were the lucky ones to have their air tickets financed by Pakistan Sports Board.

Nadeem had seen a time when he didn’t have funds to even buy a javelin for himself. During his early days, he even took money from his fellow villagers and relatives so that he could travel to other cities for his training and events.

Nadeem’s father, who is a retired contruction worker, was over the moon when his son clinched the glory in Paris. Every emotion was justified as both the father-son duo went through tough times for the latter to reach to this stage.

“What will the government do? I am still alive. I will support my son as long as I am alive. I’ve been working as a labour for the past 36 years. Never stole a single penny. I have done everything with legitimate earnings, thanks to the almighty,” said Arshad’s father to a local news channel after his son’s Olympic gold.

Nadeem has been doing well for a long time. He won a silver medal at the World Championship last year and also a gold in the Commonwealth Games 2022 with a 90.18m throw.

On Tuesday he qualified for the finals with a throw of 86.59m, bested by Neeraj Chopra who produced a massive throw off 89.34 to qualify first.

“My Village Needs Roads, Cooking Gas And…”: Arshad Nadeem’s Humble Plea To Pakistani Government

The entire Pakistan has been showering great love on Arshad Nadeem for his heroics in the recently-concluded Paris Olympics. The star javelin thrower bagged a gold medal for Pakistan in the event, which happens to be the nation’s first-ever top honour in an indiviual sport at the Games. To make things better, Arshad achieved it with an Olympic record of 92.97m. The country as well as its government had a lot of faith in the athlete and he repaid all of that with his incredible performance.

Arshad received a hero’s welcome upon his arrival to Pakistan, especially the crowd at his hometown Mian Channu was hard to control after the player reached there.

While the athlete gaining more and more attention, he made sure he didn’t forget the problems faced by his villagers. Arshad appealed the Pakistani government about some basic facilities to be provided in his village.

“My village needs roads. If the government provides cooking gas, it would be great for me and my village. I also have a dream that Mian Channu city gets a university so that our sisters won’t have to travel to Multan, which is 1.5 to 2 hours away, to study. If government makes a university here it would be a great news for my village and the neighbouring ones,” Arshad told reporters in Pakistan.

Besides raising the issues, Nadeem also thanked the government for its support.

Arshad, who is a son of a retired construction worker, has certainly seen the hardest of times mainly due to the lack of money. During his childhood, the player used to take monetary help from fellow villagers and relatives so that he could travel to other cities for his training and events in his early days.

Even a few months back, Arshad had appealed to the authorities to replace his old javelin with a new one for his training.

A historic Olympic gold in Paris has made life much different for him now.

Who Is Alysha Newman: Canadian Olympic Medallist With OnlyFans Account, Who Went Viral For Twerk Celebration

The women’s pole vault event at the Paris Olympics 2024 saw some commendable performances. The gold went to Australia as Nina  Kennedy cleared a best of 4.90m. Kennedy bagged a first-ever women’s pole vault gold for her country. American Katie Moon, the defending champion with whom Kennedy had shared world gold in Budapest last year at the World Championships, claimed silver on countback from Canada’s Alysha Newman after they both managed 4.85m.

Newman, however, went viral for her twerking celebration after faking an injury during the Paris Olympics 2024 pole vault competition. She later said that she wanted to prank her coaches and hence did that celebration. “I’m always injured, and I’m always getting back on the horse so I said I’m gonna scare my coaches because I want them to lighten up.” Newman was quoted as saying by usmagazine.com. “There’s photos of them being really serious and I could feel them [being] really intense. I mean, they’ve built me into becoming an Olympic medalist and not a lot of coaches can say that.

“So I said I’m gonna fake an injury and dance after. But it just happened very fluid. I didn’t honestly think, ‘I’m going to twerk.’ But just from grabbing that and getting to the knee with the twerk, it just all worked out in one.”

She added that she was not bothered about the criticism that she was receiving for her twerking celebration.

“My friends, my family, my coaches, my agents – if they said something mean, I would take it more [personally],” she said. “But people that I don’t know, I have a very good mind, I’m very strong mentally, that it just kind of rolls off my shoulders and no one understands what it’s like to be in my shoes.”

Apart from being a superb athlete, Newman is a popular model on OnlyFans too. According to the website’s Instagram bio “it is a subscription social platform revolutionising creator and fan connections.”

The athlete said that she earns a lot of money from OnlyFans but she told German publication BILD that she does not post adult content in it, though the general perception is that.

“I earn money with what I post – you have to log in to find out. It makes me confident and I feel good about it. Of course, many people have a certain cliché when they think of OnlyFans. I can’t change many people’s minds,” explains Newman. “But this website has connected me with many fans, more than any other pole vaulter before. What others think about it doesn’t bother me. I am who I am and I do it well.”
